Zhentai is not a single company but a group of four, each covering one link in the nonwoven value chain:
- Changshu Zhentai Nonwoven Cloth Co., Ltd. (1997) — the founding business, producing needle-punch nonwoven fabric. It now runs more than 40 needle-punch lines; by the company’s own account it is China’s largest needle-punch nonwoven producer.
- Changshu Zhentai Nonwoven Machinery Co., Ltd. (2008) — the machine-building arm Vina Nonwoven represents in Vietnam. It grew out of an internal need: the founder found that bought-in equipment had too many features that did not match real production, and decided to build his own.
- Changshu Zhentai Spunlace Fabric Co., Ltd. (2017) — spunlace nonwovens, currently 5 lines.
- Jiangsu Zhentai New Materials Technology Co., Ltd. (2022) — new materials, including special filament materials for the automotive industry.

Specialist technical capability
Beyond mainstream lines, Zhentai has solved several difficult material problems:
- Pre-oxidized fibre line — for fireproof materials, protective clothing and flame-retardant decorative materials. Installed for a Korean customer.
- 100% PTFE filter fabric line — PTFE is notoriously hard to process; Zhentai developed a dedicated needle-punch line for high-end 100% PTFE filter cloth.
- Spunlace lines — first line in 2015; more than 20 lines sold by 2024.
- Microfibre leather lines — supplied to major Chinese synthetic-leather producers (Fujian Tianshou, ANAN China, Fujian Zhongyu).
- Ballistic material lines — needle punching Kevlar, carbon and UHMWPE fibre at weights up to 2,000 g/m².
The group’s fabric arm produces a weight range of 60–5,000 g/m² with water-repellent and flame-retardant finishing — evidence that Zhentai lines handle both very light and very heavy fabric.
Zhentai in the automotive industry
Zhentai’s needle-punch nonwovens supply the interior chains of General Motors, Toyota, SAIC Volkswagen, Geely, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, AITO and Xiaomi, through tier-1 suppliers including Tuopu, Gissing, Huanyu, Gaopu and Huaguang. Products include sound-absorbing batt, battery protective covers, seat-back carpet, glass-fibre board and long-fibre PET board.
In 2022 the group invested in a special filament material line of 2,500 t/year at 2.4 m width — a long-fibre PET composite for underbody shields, wheel covers, engine covers and EV battery enclosures. Against conventional materials:

Per the company’s test reports, the material delivers up to 50% weight reduction, a 98% open ratio giving a sound-absorption coefficient above 0.8 across 2,000–5,000 Hz, long-term service at 120 °C, self-extinguishing behaviour to FMVSS302, and stone-impact resistance beyond 350 kg (DIN EN ISO 20567-1, method B).
